S/He who has the gold makes the rules
Whether it's signing any contract, seeking financing or making a purchase, it's important to remain aware of this Golden Rule.
It should determine with whom you are negotiating. Imagine how this person amassed the gold. Was it at the expense of cash-strapped small business owners?
If you had amassed a lot of gold, wouldn't you be wise to leverage your returns on every transaction? Let's hope you'll invoke the true Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
A wealthy outsider came to our town during a depressed local economy. As a condition for leasing a large portion of a building a local developer had recently purchased, extensive improvements were required. Disagreements arose when it came time to pay for the extensive leasehold improvements. Local journalists were asking why he was using such a small point to justify not paying for any of the improvements requested, despite the fact his company was using the premises to operate its business.
He was quoted as reciting the Golden Rule. This is one of many such instances reportedly happening across the country.
